CHANDIGARH: Renowned Punjabi singer Satwinder Bitti today joined the Congress party. She was inducted into the party by the PCC president Capt Amarinder Singh in presence of senior leaders including Sunil Jakhar, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Kewal Dhillon, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and Sukh Sarkaria.

Besides being a famous singer, Bitti has also been a national level hockey player having represented Punjab and the Air India at the national level. She belongs to Patiala.

Talking to reporters, she said, she had always been impressed by Capt Amarinder’s leadership and she had reached the conclusion that only he can lead Punjab to progress and prosperity. Besides, she added, hailing from Patiala she had special affection and respect for him.

Bitti said, she had not joined the party with any motive or any condition. “I am very much concerned about Punjab and I am of firm belief that Capt Amarinder will become the Chief Minister and I decided to contribute my bit in this noble mission”, she said.

Welcoming Bitti into the party, Capt Amarinder said, she will prove to be a great asset for the Congress as she has a great fan following among the youth for her outstanding talent. Besides, he added, she is a cultural icon of Punjab whose talent is acknowledged internationally.
